         SHORT BIO

Born within a small farming town in northern California, Cody saddled a horse & sheared a sheep before he played any instruments.

In 2007, Cody graduated from Tampa Bay's Howard W Blake High School of the Performing Arts, with specialization in Classical Guitar. There, he competed in national competitions(ASTA, NEA) within this area of study. After high school, he moved to Tallahassee, FL, and enrolled in Florida State University, where he holds a BA in Literature [and Applied Economics]. In university, he performed formally with university jazz combos while studying upright bass with the department chair, Rodney Jordan. Outside of school, Tallahassee introduced Cody to a world of gig culture that allowed him to meet and perform with Marcus Roberts, Leon Anderson, George Clinton, Bruno Mars, Scotty Barnhart, John Lamb, and many more.

Upon graduation in 2013, he moved to NYC where he became a full-time member of Morningsiders, which released Unfocus and a string of successful singles. In 2017, he formed Harlem River Noise, which has released Currents LP, and Brooklyn EP. Between his own endeavors, Cody has been an active sideman across multiple genres in the New York music scene, which has enabled him to perform in numerous venues including Jazz Art Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and more.

In 2022, Cody joined Midori & Friends as a classical guitar instructor, where he continues to share the beauty of education with adolescents.

JUST A THOUGHT

Life is wild power, and the power of music can easily be lost in careless repetitions. Music can also become more powerful via careful repetitions. Say 'I love you' carefully- 'I love you,' and listen for the inevitable rhythm lifted from your tongue. There is power in your rhythm. Let it affect your spirit. Now you are listening. Listening to yourself respond to the world's wild power.
